'I'd Receive' wins Huelva
HUELVA, Spain-- Beto Brant and Renato Ciasca's steamy melodrama, "I'd Receive the Worst News From Your Beautiful Lips," won the top Golden Colombus Saturday at Andalusia's 37th Huelva Ibero-American Festival. The plaudit, plus a cinematography nod for Lula Araujo, serve as artistic vindication for one of Brazil's first recent new wave directors to attract international attention with stylish thrillers such as 1997's "Belly Up" and "Friendly Fire" a year later. One of the biggest local preems at October's Rio Festival, "I'd Receive" won Camila Pitanga best actress but proved a talking point more for its vigorous sex scenes than artistic achievement.Huelva's Special Jury Prize went to Argentina's "The Cat Vanishes," a psychological thriller turning around marital mistrust that marks a change of direction for its director Carlos Sorin.Otherwise, major kudos went to directors that, though not necessarily much younger than Brant, have broken through abroad in the last ten years. The biggest winner and a buzzed up title at Huelva was Andres Wood ("Machuca") whose Chilean Oscar entry, "Violeta Went to Heaven," scooped direction and, predictably, actress (Francisca Gavilan), for its portrait of singer-songwriter Violeta Parra. Osmar Nunez nabbed actor for his perf as Argentine ruler Juan Peron in Paula de Luque's "Juan and Eva."Screenplay went to Colombian director Carlos Moreno and his regular writing partner Alonso Torres for Sundance player "All Your Dead Ones," a blackly comic vision of local authority and media treatment of Colombia's mass killings.Popular at March's Guadalajara Fest, Mexican first-timer Patricia Martinez de Velasco's family comedy "Between Us" re-confirmed its crowd-pleasing potential winning Huelva's audience award.Fest ran Nov.19-26. The penultimate film in Summit Entertainment's Twilight franchise nearly matched the box office brawn of New Moon in its opening weekend, but just one week after Breaking Dawn Part 1 was released in theaters reports are surfacing that it has been causing seizures.our editor recommendsBox Office Report: 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn' and 'Muppets' Rule Thanksgiving'Breaking Dawn' Wedding: Luxury Brand Product Placement Draws Criticism For Mis-Targeting 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn's' Taylor Lautner on His Most Challenging Scene and Jacob's Massive Transformation (Video) 'Breaking Dawn's' Taylor Lautner Draws Affection From Overzealous Male Fan at Film's PremiereBox Office Report: 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn' Scores $9.9 Mil on Monday'Breaking Dawn' Fan Blames Drunk Driving on Boyfriend's Refusal to See Film A California man, Brandon Gephart, was reportedly rushed to the hospital after getting sick while watching Breaking Dawn's birth scene. The screening ended when paramedics arrived to help Gephart. Gephart admitted that he has no interest in seeing how the movie ends. A Salt Lake City man also suffered a similar seizure while watching Breaking Dawn, ABC4 reports. His wife explained further: "I was kneeling in front of him and slapping his face." The man's name was not given because he was afraid he would lose his job. Breaking Dawn features Bella's violent pregnancy of her child with her significant other, vampire Edward. Medical experts said that the film's birth scene -- which features red, white and black images -- could have triggered episodes of photosensitive epilepsy. "It's like a light going off because it hits your brain all at once," Dr. Michael G. Chez tells CBS Sacramento. "The trouble with theaters is that they're so dark, the light flashing in there is more like a strobe light." This isn't the first instance of a film causing moviegoers to feel uncomfortable. During screenings of Danny Boyle's 127 Hours, which tells the story of climber Aron Ralston whose arm is trapped by a boulder in a Utah canyon, it has caused some moviegoers to vomit and faint, with one taken out of the theater and an ambulance called. Another Prometheus Picture Hits The Net
Allow the Alien conjecturing begin!Particulars on Ridley Scott's approaching sci-fi (and purported Alien prequel) Prometheus happen to be few in number, however Entertainment Weekly have fresh images and particulars from Scott's set.Boasting the acting talents of Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Noomi Rapace, Guy Pearce, Ben Promote and Michael Fassbender (being an android), the castlist alone could be enough to obtain people having to pay attention, but as it is in the guy who introduced us the initial Alien, fans are conjecturing their keyboards off attempting to draw links between your much-loved franchise which new sci-fi epic."There's certainly a hyperlink to Alien," states Fassbender. "You will find animals inside it that you will recognise..."The look that EWhave launched to the web looks, well, very strangely photoshopped, using the lights round the characters' suits supplying an ideal lamp-shade for that retouching that appears to possess gone on.However ,, that isn't important. What's important may be the atmosphere and also the apparent high-budget design that's happening -- some reviews have stated the price of the film is upwards from $200 million -- and, you realize, that damn large face in it in what is known as "The Ampule Room."Just just in case you had been wondering, the image shows enthusiasts Holloway (Logan Marshall-Eco-friendly carrying out a good impersonation of Tom Sturdy) and Elizabeth (Noomi Rapace) walking through TheAmpule Room alongside their robot butler - of the sort - David (Michael Fassbender) in the world their ship has crash arrived on.It's all regulated very mystical, it's all regulated very cosmic, it's all regulated very mysterious. Quite simply... allow the uncertainty begin!Tell us your ideas within the comment box below.Prometheus is going to be in movie theaters come summer time 2012.

Nickelodeon sees 20% ratings drop
Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman said generally steady-eddy kids' cable network Nickelodeon had experienced a highly unusual 15%-20% ratings drop in mid-September. The company is working with Nielsen and analyzing independent set-top box data and, at the same time, adding fresh animated and live-action programming to the net, Dauman said during a conference call to discuss Viacom's latest quarter earning, which were strong. He implied it's possible there could have been some measurement error since the set-top box data doesn't seem to match up with Nielsen's figures. "The set-top box data is not showing the data that shows the declines that Nielson is showing," he said. But he noted that the numbers have improved over the past several days. He called the situation "anomalous" and "a short-term phenomenon." But he said it came at a particularly vexing time in early fall when toy companies are looking to advertise for the holidays. "We have to make it up to them and it's not something you can recapture," he said. Nick's woes plus a softening of volume in the scatter market could make it hard for the company to reach the double digital growth in advertising revenue that it had aspired to in the current quarter "but it's hard to tell where we will fall exactly." He noted that Viacom had been able to maintain healthy margins, even grow them, throughout the recent recession. Contact the Variety newsroom at news@variety.com

It's Official (Again): FCC Arbitrarily Punished CBS For Janet Jackson 'Wardrobe Malfunction'
Getty Images Janet Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction" may have been fleeting but the wheels of justice certainly are not. More than seven years after Jackson exposed her breast during the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show, the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal has once again determined the FCC has failed to justify a decision to fine CBS for indecency.our editor recommendsJanet Jackson Cancels Shows to Be With Family During Conrad Murray TrialTop 10 Highest Paid Music ArtistsAppeals Court Strikes Down FCC Fine For Infamous Super Bowl 'Wardrobe Malfunction' After the "wardrobe malfunction," the FCC began cracking down on indecency on the TV airwaves. For what happened on February 1, 2004, the FCC fined CBS a record $550,000. CBS appealed the decision and in 2008, 3rd Circuit judge Marjorie Rendell overturned the fine on the reasoning that the commission had not given the networks enough advanced notice and acted arbitrarily in enforcing indecency policies. VIDEOS: Super Bowl's Most Iconic Commercials The case then went before the U.S. Supreme Court,, which remanded the case back to the 3rd Circuit for further consideration. The high court justices found that the FCC was "entirely rational" when changing its policy, but left open the question whether the fine violated the network's constitutional rights. Tasked with reviewing the "wardrobe malfunction" case once again, Justice Rendell reaches pretty much the same conclusion as the first time. STORY: FCC to Review Janet Jackson Incident "While we can understand the Supreme Court's desire that we re-examine our holdings in light of its opinion in Fox," writes Rendell, referring to a similar case involving fleeting obscenities on television, "We conclude that, if anything, Fox confirms our previous ruling in this case and that we should readopt our earlier analysis and holding that the Commission acted arbitrarily in this case." PHOTOS: Top 10 Highest Paid Music Artists The judge goes on to note that"The balance of the evidence weighs heavily against the FCC's contention that its restrained enforcement policy for fleeting material extended only to fleeting words and not fleeting images." Here's the entire decision from the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals today, including a dissent from Justice Anthony Scirica, who argues that broadcast television is subject to greater oversight and that the constitutional objections must be rejected.
