Has MUSIC died and been replaced?

50 years or so ago, you has bands/singers/song writers being
worshipped for their genius abilities and such. Now, with more and
more music going on, maybe due to the increase in ability to record
your own album from buying a cheap PC, music is more of a supply and
demand than a luxury. Watch any music interview from the 60s/70s, even
listen to their lyrics, superiority. Now, the people who are idolized
are usually either 1) terribly awful combined with corny meaningless
lyrics or 2) an embarrassed to music - usually brought forth in the
form of a wanabe gangster/wife beater.

It seems people now a days care less for the music and more for the
profile of the "singer"
