Manzarek creates Morrison tale

Ray Manzarek's "The Poet in Exile," an search for the urban legend that his Doorways bandmate Jim Morrison continues to be alive, is at risk of the bigscreen. Manzarek provides the project with Tim Sullivan, who's writing, pointing and creating through his Clubhouse Entertainment banner. Manzarek, keyboardist and co-founding father of the Doorways, will even produce and score the project, with intends to shoot the coming year. Manzarek and Morrison created the Doorways in 1965 with Robbie Krieger and John Densmore. Manzarek's novel, released in 2002, explores the idea that Morrison staged his dying in 1971 and contacts Manzarek from his hiding devote the Seychelles Islands to attempt the last journey of rock 'n' roll rebellion. "No. 1 question I recieve requested is, 'Do you believe Jim Morrison's really dead?' " Manzarek stated. "All I'm able to have to say is, Personally, i haven't heard or seen from Jim since he left for Paris 4 decades ago. And That I miss that guy. He would be a poet. A Dionysus to my Apollo. An excellent artist, a shaman. Along with a damn close friend.Inch Manzarek told Variety he does not intend to portray themself within the film. "I would perform a cameo, but I'm not sure if acting is my forte," he added. Sullivan, that has labored extensively in horror ("Driftwood," "Chillerama," "2001 Maniacs") will co-write the script with "Chillerama" producer and editor Gavin Heffernan and New Mexico poet-author Liz Sullivan ("Symbols and Outcasts"). "The Poet in Exile" is going to be created through Sullivan's ClubHouse Entertainment with Heffernan and author-company directors John McCulley, John Crockett, Adam Robitel and Paul Ward. The band's history was the topic of Oliver Stone's 1991 "The Doorways" together with documentaries including last year's "When You are Strange," read by The Actor-brad Pitt. "The Poet in Exile" may be the first Doorways film project came from with a person in this guitar rock band. Sullivan offered as MTV News staff author and was an connect producer on New Line's rock 'n' roll comedy "Detroit Rock City." He met Manzarek greater than a decade ago and stated the film aims to capture the spirit from the '60s living on with the bond and friendship between your two music artists. Manzarek has continued to be active like a keyboardist and it has been touring with Krieger as Manzarek/Krieger. Younger crowd lately launched the album "Translucent Blues" with guitarist Roy Rogers.
